The thoughts and ramblings of a Beauty Therapist, Salon owner and Mum of 3 small people. I love my work, I am passionate about beauty, make up and amazing nail colours, also have a love affair with chocolate, cooking and I am a wannabe gardener.

My first ramblings.... 15th March 2017

I would first like to point out that the beautiful lady to the left is unfortunately not me. Although I do love her nails, and will often choose this gorgeous colour for my fingers or toes. My hands are also not that elegant, they are hard working hands. They spend equal time both pampering clients with beautiful oils and creams and they are also in washing up water, dirty in soil and earth and are continually being washed, (before anyone comments, yes I do wear gloves for gardening and washing up, sometimes!!)

The salon has been open for nearly 17 years and in this time it has been a roller coaster for me. I have got married, had 3 lovely children and negotiated a double dip recession. As with so many businesses in Bude, we survived and are stronger for it.

I love the salon, it was my first baby and I can genuinely say we have the loveliest clients. There has not been a day when I have not enjoyed doing treatments and the salon feels like my home and we hope you feel relaxed in the salon too.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, I have clients to pamper and with spring around the corner, if you are like me, you have just realised how neglected your feet are and how pale your skin is looking. A little self tan and a touch of colour on the toes is the perfect pick me up for spring and we hope to see you in the salon soon.....

Don't underestimate the importance of the High Street salon. 9th April 2017

It’s been a busy few weeks since I did my first blog. The salon has been getting busier with Spring on the way. We also had chance to take a little break from the salon and had the honour of being part of Sadie, our therapists, first Hen Party celebrations. Despite tricking her into thinking we were taking her Burlesque dance, Sill life drawing and Pasty making, we actually had a busman’s holiday and went to a Beauty Spa for the day. It was lovely to have some pampering and we had a fantastic day with our Hen.

Spa days are becoming so popular and are a fantastic way to relax and get some great pampering, but we should not underestimate the importance and value of the High Street salon. Perfect for all your essential beauty treatments, waxing, tinting etc, but also increasingly offer just gorgeous pampering treatments, from beautiful Hot Stone massage to relaxing Facials, invigorating Body Wraps to indulgent Hot Oil Salt Scrubs. The High Street Beauty Salon might not be able to offer a Hot tub or Pool, but at a serious reduced price I feel you can get Spa treatments at High street prices. The other advantage is that you get a more personal approach and often (always at Felicity Kate’s) longer for your treatment. For example, our full body massage is allocated an hour for the massage and 10 minutes to get on and off the couch. This is something very few Beauty Spas have the luxury to offer.

The Beauty Spa is here to stay but don’t underestimate to importance of the High Street salon and Bude is lucky to have some excellent Salons in the area. Don’t forget to check our Salon out we just might offer more than you realised.
